IMS recently completed the comprehensive inspection and supervision of cargo oil tank (COT) coating refurbishment for a European client in Indonesia. The project presented significant challenges due to the shipyard’s lack of experience with full COT recoating for chemical tankers.
Faced with a tight schedule, technical complexity, limited skilled spray painters, and inexperienced QC inspectors, the IMS on-site Supervisor stepped in decisively. Hands-on training was provided to the yard’s QC team covering coating procedures, inspection standards, and quality requirements. In addition, practical guidance was delivered directly to spray painters working inside the tanks, ensuring proper application techniques were followed and coating performance optimized.
